This is so incredibly sad and completely unexpected. I remember reading an recent NYT article where he talked about his sleeping problems and how he was only sleeping an average of two hours a night while filming the new Batman movie Dark Knight. He said while he was physically exhuasted, he couldn't quiet his mind. When he took one Ambien, it only kept him asleep for one hour while two would put him into a stupor. Any average insomniac can relate to that, but he also said he was deeply affected by his movie role as the Joker, whom he called a "psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy." He was clearly a sensitive soul who couldn't sleep, who ironically now, at 28, will sleep forever. A fantastic actor and, from all accounts, a fantastic father as well.

v. sad news indeed. On an eerie note, Heath Ledger was in a dream I had the night before his death. I nearly freaked when I heard the news.
Did you hear about all the hate groups protesting at his funeral and Gibson's comments on Fox? WTF The world has gone mad!!!!! They don't just hate the gays they hate the people who play gays on tv. Crabby said and I agree with him that these haters will meet their karma in the form of Bubba the Flame-Dicked Ass Rapist in the afterlife. For now I hope Heath can RIP and that his family can have some peace.

BTFDAR: Yikes. Scary name but I agree with you 100 percent. I started writing a post about these hateful mouth breathers yesterday and then realized they weren't worthy of my energy or space on the PU. The only thing they deserve are a few grenades. Hopefully Ledger's family will be shielded from them.
Strange twist to this story is that I think its a bigger story back in the US than it is down here in Australia.... even with Ledger being from Perth originally. The Aussies lose interest in their own as soon as they give up the shores of their island for those of the States.
