Ode to My Volvo

Sunday evening around 7 p.m., I was rounding a treacherous curve on Mt. Blue Street in Norwell when I hit a boulder and my car flipped over. I don't remember the accident but when I came to, my car was upside down and I was sitting by the side of the road with some woman who lived nearby. She said she saw me climb out of my overturned car and called 911. I don't remember climbing out of the car, but I do remember that it was totaled except for the Volvo-steel cage that houses the passengers. I was taken to the South Shore hospital, given a battery of CAT scans, X-rays and MRIs and ultimately the only injury I sustained was a serious facial beat-down from the airbag - not even a slight concussion. They told me I was lucky to be alive but I felt lucky for much more than that. Lucky that Caroline and Paul were not in the car with me. Lucky that I was wearing my seatbelt. Lucky to be able to return home the next day looking like a bloated troll. Lucky to be able to hug James, Caroline & Paulie a little harder. (I even kissed Vito on the lips). I'm lucky to be icing my face, updating the Pointy Universe, and searching for a new Volvo on a Tuesday night.

OMG KJ - I'm so glad to hear you are alright. Having been in a near fatal accident of a similar nature I know exactly what you're going through. Please rest, relax and take care of yourself.

A round of Volvos for everyone!! No, I'm not buying (I wish!)...just a suggestion given how it protected our little buddy from injury. Katie, SO GLAD you're OK!! Put a bag of frozen peas on your face and rest. XO

We are all feeling lucky! I cannot wait to squeeze your pointy beat up head. Code Red's got it right with the frozen peas. They seem to serve multiple purposes in the Cyr house. As a staple in the Dot MacPhadden chicken casserole, an ice pack for swelling stripper boobs after birth, an ice pack for an "injury" SAC sustained and now a face pack for our Kitty. Get some rest Kit Kat.

Kate,
I am so happy to hear you are Ok. I cannot believe how this year is playing our for you. With two trips to South Shore hospital this year already, I would be wishing for '07 to get here soon!
I am sure your face is as beautiful as ever!!
See you next weekend in yet another suburban stuper!! Hang onto any extra pain med's as you might need them for Monday!!
XO Katie

Love you and feel such overwhelming relief that you are alive and well. I shall slap a high five to your guardian angel the next time I see you (after the teary hugs cease). Please let us know if there is anything at all that you need. xoxo

Love you all. I have to amend the blog to read that I am also lucky to have such amazing friends that I will surely be hugging a little harder the next time I see them. I'll be hiding out until my face no longer resembles a Nicole Brown Simpson "after" shot. Outside onlookers will think I'm a victim of spousal battery.

Kate!! Just to reiterate what all your friends have said... We are SO glad you're OK!! And thank goodness the chitlins weren't with you. Just chill out, watch Oprah and make friends with the frozen peas. And, bruises or no bruises, you're always gaaawww-jus!

Kate,
I am so sorry to hear about your accident, but I am extremely glad your alright! That is a very scary thing when it happens. I wish you a speedy recovery. I couldn't even believe this when I saw it. We had 2 aquaintances that got in accidents this week and the outcome was not the same.
Your in our thoughts and prayers.
