Bye, Little Buddy

Bob Denver a.k.a Gilligan died of cancer at age 70 last Friday. All well-intentioned klutzes, including myself, will miss him. He is survived by three children and his wife, DREAMA. If Gilligan's Dreama is 1/8th of the person our Dreama is, we know he lived a happy, exciting and vivacious life. Or, as WMD duly noted, if Gilligan's wife was 1/8 the person our Dreama is, it is probably what killed him.

sadly, i heard the news this morning from a co-worker and then even sadder was that off the top of my head i rattled off that he should not only be mourned for the loss of Gilligan but also as Maynard G. Krebbs(sp?) and his roll in Far Out Space Nuts ("Launch?..I said Lunch!"). Which eventually led into me explaining what Lancelot Link Secret Chimp was to my boss.

The two contemplations I then faced were; 1) If only i could use this stupid ability of remembering bad television for personal gain and 2) my boss is probably regretting hiring me.

p.s. if his Dreama was 1/8 of our Dreama, that's what probably killed him... and that's only a compliment

WMD. How right you are..GO DREAMA. I'll have to edit this entry to reflect this truth.

BTW, Anyone who could reach that deeply into the annals of Bob Denver's acting CV is gifted in my eyes. You need to guest blog again soon.

Brownguy- Thank you for your philosophical summary and thoughtful character autopsy of GI. I will never watch the show the same again. You are so right on.

thanks for the props kj. pathetically, off the top of my head, i could pen insights on Big Trouble in Little China that would make Giana's doctoral thesis look like a two pager.
